Kasey Cruises To Best Ever Tour
Title Success In Montreal
Australian Kasey Brown claimed
the biggest Tour title of her career when she beat France's
Isabelle Stoehr in the final of the Women's Atwater Cup
in Montreal, Canada.
The 22-year-old third seed from New
South Wales made her breakthrough in the semi-finals of the
inaugural WISPA World Tour Silver squash event at Club
Atwater when she outplayed favourite Vanessa Atkinson -
avenging her defeat by the former world champion from The Hague in
last year's World Open in Madrid where she earned only five
points.
Brown was again after revenge against
fourth seed Stoehr - having lost to the record 11 times French
national champion in their two previous meetings in 2007.
Stoehr, the world No22 from
Montpellier, took the opening game. But Brown, ranked seven places
higher, romped back to record an impressive 2-9, 9-6, 9-4, 9-0
victory in the climax of the $26,700 event.
The success marks Brown's first WISPA
title of the year - but the eighth of her career since her maiden
title triumph in the WA Open on home soil in May 2005.
Semi-finals:
[3] Kasey Brown (AUS) bt [1] Vanessa
Atkinson (NED) 9-2, 3-9, 10-9,
9-1
[4] Isabelle Stoehr (FRA) bt [2]
Madeline Perry (IRL)
9-0, 9-7, 8-10, 9-7
Seeds Suffer As Stoehr & Brown Excel In Montreal
France's
Isabelle Stoehr and Australian Kasey Brown will contest a
surprise Women's Atwater Cup final after ditching the top two
seeds in the semi-finals of the inaugural WISPA World Tour Silver
squash event at Club Atwater in Montreal, Canada.
Fourth seed Stoehr, the record 11 times
French national champion, outplayed Madeline Perry, the No2
seed from Ireland, 9-0, 9-7, 8-10, 9-7 to reach the 14th
WISPA final of her career - only five weeks after winning the Des
Pyramides Open title on home soil.
In the other semi, third seed Brown
faced favourite Vanessa Atkinson for the first time since the
former world champion from The Hague dismissed the Australian in
last year's World Open in Madrid for the loss of just five
points.
But this time Brown was in impressive
form. The 22-year-old world No15 from New South Wales beat Atkinson
9-2, 3-9, 10-9, 9-1 to claim her second appearance in a WISPA Tour
final this year - and the 15th of her career.
Quarter-finals:
[1] Vanessa Atkinson (NED) bt Aisling
Blake (IRL)
9-5, 9-7, 9-0

Seeds Safely Through In Montreal
The top four seeds will contest the
semi-finals of the Women's Atwater Cup after straightforward
straight games wins in the quarter-finals of the WISPA World Tour
Silver squash event at Club Atwater in Montreal,
Canada.
It was the end of the road for Dutch
qualifier Karen Kronemeyer and unseeded Irish international
Aisling Blake, both of whom had secured unexpected places in
the last eight after notable seeding upsets in the first round.
Fourth seed Isabelle Stoehr, the
record 11 times French national champion, dismissed Kronemeyer 9-6,
9-1, 9-4 and will now meet Ireland's Madeline Perry for a
place in the final.
Perry, the second seed, was in
commanding form as she despatched rising Egyptian star Raneem El
Weleily, the No7 seed, 9-7, 9-6, 9-2.
Dutch favourite Vanessa Atkinson
defeated Blake 9-5, 9-7, 9-0. The former world number one from The
Hague now takes on Australian Kasey Brown, the third seed
from New South Wales who beat fifth-seeded Mexican Samantha Teran
9-6, 9-5, 9-1.

Kronemeyer & Blake Burst Into Montreal Quarters
Dutch qualifier
Karen Kronemeyer and unseeded Irish international Aisling
Blake claimed unexpected places in the quarter-finals of the
Women's Atwater Cup after causing notable upsets in the first
round of the
WISPA World Tour
Silver
squash event at Club Atwater in
Montreal,
Canada.
Kronemeyer, fresh
from her Tour title triumph in last month's NY Capital District
Open in New York, recovered from the loss of the first game to
beat Italy's No8 seed Manuela Manetta 6-9, 9-6, 9-4, 7-9,
9-7.
The reward for the
26-year-old from The Hague is a clash with fourth seed Isabelle
Stoehr, the French number one who despatched Alana Miller,
one of two Canadians in the first round, 9-2, 9-6, 9-4.
Blake benefited from
the premature withdrawal of US star Latasha Khan, the sixth
seed from Seattle who conceded the match after just one game.
The Dublin-born
26-year-old now faces top seed Vanessa Atkinson, the former
world number one from the Netherlands who battled for three games to
overcome New Zealander Joelle King 10-8, 9-4, 10-8.
Irish interest in
Montreal is led by Madeline Perry, the No2 seed from
Banbridge, near Belfast. Perry beat Camille Serme 9-5, 9-2, 9-4 - but it was a
disappointing outcome for the French qualifier in her final match as
a junior.
Serme, who boasts a
distinguished junior career which climaxed last month in Norway
where she became the first player in history to win a third
European Junior (U19) Championship title, turns 19 tomorrow
(Friday).
