WHY ... should I use WSF Referees at my Event?

WSF World and International Referees are considered to be the best Squash Referees in the World. Nominated by their National Associations and approved by the WSF Review Board on a biennial basis, their experience and knowledge are an asset to any event.

It is certainly our experience that those tournaments where WSF Referees are appointed suffer significantly fewer problems from a refereeing point of view. WSF Referees do not only attend to officiate - they can also give assistance and advice to your Tournament Referee during the course of the event and many of them can conduct refereeing clinics and carry out assessments for the benefit of your national referees.

HOW MANY ... do I need to invite?

This depends on the grade of the event. Both the PSA and WISPA recommend the use of a certain number of World and International Referees at their events:

PSA World Open: - 3 World Referees
PSA Super Series: - 3 International/World Referees
PSA International Series: > $20,000 - 2 International/World Referees
< $20,000 - 1 International/World Referee
PSA Satellite Series: - 1 International/World Referee
WISPA: > $15,000 - 2 International/World Referees
WISPA: < $15,000 - 1 International/World Referee

HOW MUCH ... will it cost?

Of course, there is a financial commitment on the part of the tournament promoter when you invite WSF Referees to your event. The following minimum expenses must be covered:

1. Return travel from referee’s home to the tournament venue (including travel to and from airport on outward and return journeys)
2. Hotel bed and breakfast accommodation
3. All additional meals
4. All necessary travel between the hotel and tournament venue
5. Personal travel/medical insurance
6. Visa fees
7. Cost of any injections/medication considered necessary for travel to the country where the event is taking place
8. Additionally, WSF Referees are to be paid US$50 per day, to cover out of pocket expenses, for the duration of their assignment.

HOW ..... do I contact WSF Referees?

All requests for WSF Referees should be passed through the WSF Office so that allocation of events can be made fairly. If you are interested in inviting WSF Referees to your event, please contact:
